Since 1995, PaysOnline has been shaping the future of payroll and HR technology in Australia. We started in the trenches—running a wholesale and retail business ourselves—and quickly discovered that handling payroll in-house is costly, complex, and fraught with risk. That realworld frustration became our mission: to deliver professionally managed, fully compliant payroll services backed by leading software and alwayson support. 

From the beginning, we set out to raise the standard for outsourced payroll in Australia. We saw an opportunity to combine local expertise, strong compliance frameworks, and intuitive technology to deliver a smarter, more seamless experience for businesses nationwide.

Our Story

PaysOnline began in 1994 with a problem - our own.

While operating a Queensland wholesale business and five retail fashion stores, we experienced the growing complexity of payroll firsthand. Staffing was increasing, administration was expanding and managing payroll alongside a multimillion-dollar debtors ledger made it clear that the process needed to be simpler, clearer, and more efficient.

After exploring outsourced payroll services and seeing both the potential and the shortcomings in the market, we recognised an opportunity to build something better.

That insight led to the creation of Paylink - the predecessor to PaysOnline.

We evolved from faxed timesheets and manual reports to structured spreadsheets, then to web‑based forms and downloadable reports. As technology advanced, we invested in custom development to ensure data could be captured at the source, reducing errors and administrative burden.
