1995. The Start
With a successful wholesale and retail clothing business at the time, we realised that outsourcing payroll made perfect business sense to reduce administration overhead.
However, persuading Australian businesses to delegate their payroll responsibilities to a third party was challenging back then, as they were not entirely comfortable with the concept.
It didn’t help that the outsourced payroll providers in Australia at that time did not instil confidence or deliver the expected compliance standards that we anticipated from such services.
Researching overseas American providers and their success and adoption by American businesses inspired us to the goal of delivering a better job and service in Australia than the current payroll services.
We started to utilise our own payroll software to process local businesses’ payrolls. In a very short time, our clientele started to grow.
Transition to Online Payroll Processing
We were the first payroll outsourcing company to adopt online payroll processing.
Despite being still semi-manual, given the constraints of Internet speed at the time, we were the pioneers in adopting online payroll processing.
We leveraged our advanced spreadsheeting to process payroll efficiently and then synchronised the output to the web, allowing clients to access reports remotely. We also provided user-friendly web forms for clients to input employee information.
Our commitment to pushing the boundaries and embracing emerging technologies solidified our position as pioneers in the managed payroll industry.
